Ayo and Jeremy: The silver lining for us was choosing each other

This year hasn’t been perfect in many ways, but in the Jewish tradition, even in challenging or tough times, joy still exists. What is something happy that happened in the last year? What silver linings did you find?

“Our happiest moment of last year was getting married! Despite having to change our wedding plans multiple times due to Covid, we decided that we didn’t want to wait until a post-pandemic wedding was possible. On November 29, 2020, we said ‘yes’ to each other at sunrise overlooking the ocean at Malibu Bluffs Creek Park! We included written blessings from our parents and siblings in our ceremony.

The silver lining for us was choosing each other, deciding ‘the time is now,’ and creating a beautiful day that we will never forget. It was challenging to pull it all together in a short time frame, but we trusted that it would all work out, and everything fell into place. We followed our ceremony with a two-week long honeymoon road trip where we visited Joshua Tree, Sedona, AZ, Lake Powell, The Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Canyonlands and Zion National Park! We look forward to having a big celebration with all of our loved ones when it’s safe to do so.” – Ayo and Jeremy, HMI LA 2019
