NEW TO HONEYMOON ISRAEL?
Not your typical group trip. Not your typical community.
We bring couples from the same city to Israel together, then help them build Jewish community that lasts long after they’re home.
There’s no one reason people come, but there’s room for all of them.
Couples join HMI from every kind of background. Here’s what brings many of them.
To understand Israel beyond the headlines
To find Jewish community for the next chapter
To explore Israel together, as a couple
To ask real questions in a thoughtful space
To reconnect with Judaism on your own terms
To show up for Israel during complicated times
”For anyone considering HMI, just do it! It's an incredible, life-changing experience that doesn't end in Israel. We made amazing friends that we hope to have in our lives forever.
Nicole, HMI DC 2025

Are HMI trips running?
Yes, HMI is currently accepting applications for 2027 Israel trips!
After successful trips to Israel in November 2025, December 2025, and January 2026, we made the sad decision to postpone our February and June 2026 trips due to conflict in the region. The safety of our participants, staff, and partners remains our highest priority. For our upcoming trips, all dates and itineraries are being planned with great care to ensure a meaningful and secure experience for everyone involved.
More than a trip, HMI is about building community — and right now, that community is more important than ever. Through shared meals, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable moments, you’ll form new friendships and continue shaping the life you’re building together.
What is Honeymoon Israel (HMI)?
Honeymoon Israel (HMI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to welcoming young couples with at least one Jewish partner into the Jewish community. For many young couples, there’s no easy way into Jewish life, especially during the critical years when they’re deciding how to shape their lives.
HMI offers a way in: a highly subsidized group trip serves as a catalyst for building a lifelong Jewish community at home. Participants explore Israel or Argentina, sharing thoughtful – and fun! – experiences with couples from their city. Then, the journey continues at home as they connect to Judaism with their new community.
Why does Honeymoon Israel offer this program?
When our founders read a Pew Research study indicating that interfaith marriage has become the norm, they asked how we better welcome young couples with diverse backgrounds to Jewish life rather than try to fit them into a traditional mold.
What does participation in Honeymoon Israel’s program include?
When you’re accepted to HMI’s program, you’ll receive pre-trip support, an immersive group trip to Israel or Argentina, alumni programs and resources, plus the opportunity to build a lifelong group of friends. Thanks to the generosity of our funders we’re able to offer this experience at a highly subsidized rate of $2,900 per couple including airfare. We believe every eligible couple should have the opportunity to participate in HMI, regardless of financial circumstances. If cost is a concern, we offer payment plans to help make the program more accessible.
Please note: For our 2026 Argentina trips, the participant fee is $500 per couple, airfare not included, to allow couples the flexibility to select and book their own travel arrangements.
How is Honeymoon Israel funded?
Our nonprofit organization is supported by more than a dozen national foundations, as well as local Jewish Federations and foundations, individual donors, and our alumni. While there is no expectation to give after your trip, our alumni love to pay it forward to ensure that more couples have access to this life-changing experience. Honeymoon Israel does not receive funding from the State of Israel for its program.
