HMI is more than a trip, it’s about the journey. And your Jewish journey continues at home – whether in your community, with your HMI cohort, or at home with your partner. From Shabbat to other Jewish holidays, life-stage based programs and neighborhood meet-ups, our programs help you explore Jewish life with your Honeymoon Israel family. Don’t see a program in your city? Reach out to your local city staff for help finding what you need.

Virtual Panel: Connecting to Judaism through Jewish Cuisine
Saturday, December 16 at 9:30 am via Zoom

Whether you love cooking or your favorite thing to make is a reservation, join us (virtually) to learn the many ways HMI Chicago alumni and our community partners connect to Judaism through food — both cooking and eating! Hear our panel of food experts and food lovers discuss how the diverse menu of Jewish cuisine connects them to their own Jewish roots and identities.

The panel will feature:

  • Rabbi Rebecca Benoff, Assistant Rabbi at Chicago Sinai Congregation, Moderator
  • Sam Zeitlin, Chef/Owner of Zeitlin’s Delicatessen
  • Elisabeth Friedmayer, HMI Chicago Cohort 14 alum and avid baker
  • Tamar Fasja Unikel, Co-Owner, MASA MADRE
