We’re back! We’ve now been home for a month and our lives have been forever changed by Honeymoon Israel.
For those of you who have been on Honeymoon Israel, I imagine that you understand what I’m about to say; in just 10 short days, Israel grabbed our hearts, enthralled our eyes, taught us so many things and ultimately left a mark for years to come.
Some say that when people travel to Israel, they return home with what they describe as a “fever” – and not a medical-related fever. It’s simply a feeling; a type of warmth and welcoming. The feeling is in the eyes of the friendly locals, in the delicious food and colorful markets. It can be felt in the singing voices inside synagogues, mosques and churches. It can be felt on the stone streets and the fresh air from the sea. It’s all around.
There was so much diversity within the couples on our Honeymoon Israel Montreal trip. The trip allowed all of us, different as we are in some ways and similar as we are in others, to explore Israel in a very personally meaningful way. We watched, we listened, we learned and most importantly, we absorbed. We absorbed as much as we could, because we knew our time on this trip was limited.
We feel that one of the most important aspects of this trip was the amazing tour educator we had – Yishay! He’s guided a number of Honeymoon Israel trips so far, and while he makes all groups feel like they are really special, we KNOW he is the special one. We appreciated his guidance, his storytelling, his honesty and his ability to answer even the hardest of questions – and then ultimately encouraged us to ask more!
The icing on the cake for us personally was that Yishay actually helped make another one of our dreams come true in Israel…
While we were in Jerusalem, overlooking the Old City, Darren proposed to me. He got down on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. BEST. SURPRISE. EVER. He helped bring to life the words we now know to be true: Honeymoon Israel is the trip of a lifetime to explore Israel with the one you love.
