Join HMI as an Israeli Mifgash

More Than a Mifgash
More than a romantic getaway, Honeymoon Israel’s multi-day mifgash includes hotel accommodations and tour activities as well as opportunities for professional networking and meaningful dialogue during this pivotal time in Israeli history.
This is your chance to share your experiences of life in Israel and speak authentically about your identity and culture with an open-minded group of 20 couples from U.S. cities.
You’ll join these American couples as they tour Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and other parts of Israel, visiting significant historical, cultural, and natural sites. Throughout the journey, you’ll serve as a welcoming host and conversation partner, and will have the chance to form personal and professional connections that last far beyond the trip.

Sample One-Day Itinerary
Day 4 – Expressions of Covenant: Holy Connections in the Old City
Your day starts with breakfast at the hotel followed by an update on current geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East with author and educator Michael Bauer. Then you’ll enjoy a walking tour through the Old City of Jerusalem exploring the various Quarters. You’ll have lunch in the Old City and have the chance to do some shopping in the Old City Shuk before returning to the hotel. After dinner, you’ll rejoin the group for Shir Tikva (“Song of Hope”) with prominent Israeli musicians Maya Belsitzman and Matan Ephrat.
Who You’ll Meet
Honeymoon Israel travelers are young American couples from diverse backgrounds, including multi-racial and same-sex couples. Couples have different levels of connection with Judaism and Israel. They are typically between the ages of 25 and 40, and have been married or part of a lifelong committed relationship for five years or less.
A majority of the couples identify as interfaith or mixed heritage, meaning just one partner is Jewish, reflecting the demographics of the non-Orthodox American Jewish community.
The couples come from a range of career fields and areas of the United States, providing you with the opportunity to expand your professional network while building lasting relationships with American peers.

Eligibility
You and your partner must be strong English speakers between the ages of 25 and 45.
The goal of this mifgash is to encourage open and curious dialogue, so ideal candidates will be sensitive to different cultures and eager to learn as well as share. You must be open and receptive to non-Jewish perspectives and willing to engage on tough topics.
Cost
There is no cost for you to participate in the Honeymoon Israel mifgash. HMI will provide hotel accommodations, tour activities and transportation while with the group, as well as most meals.
In exchange, you’ll be expected to actively engage with the U.S. couples in English, including acting as “hosts” during free time to help facilitate informal interactions, such as showing them around your city and advising on places to eat, drink, or explore.

Israeli couples are invited to join each Honeymoon Israel group for a minimum of three days and two nights.
