HMI SF Bay Area: Hanukkah Hootenanny
December 18, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm PST
Join HMI for a Hanukkah celebration with lots of latkes and libations! Candle lighting, food, activities, and schmoozing will be plentiful (gluten-free, non-alcoholic, vegetarian, and Kosher will be available). Activities for all ages include donut decorating, dancing, and a latke competition!
All of our HMI family is welcome, including kids of all ages, pre-trip couples, and potential applicants. Feel free to bring friends who want to learn more and experience HMI firsthand! RSVP is required, and the first 25 RSVPs get a fabulous Hanukkah gift.
To enter into the latke competition, bring your BEST plate of latkes to share and compete for the Golden Donut Awards! There will be PRIZES for:
- Best latke
- Most creative latke
- Best latke topping
In preparation for lighting the first Hanukkah candle Sunday evening, December 18, we will do a candle lighting “dress rehearsal” with one of our favorite HMI rabbis who will be available to answer any questions you have!
And be sure to dress in your favorite festive holiday outfit. We will have a prize for the BEST DRESSED!
Gift Card Donations: As part of this celebration, we will be collecting Amazon and Visa gift cards. All gift cards will be donated to Jewish Family and Community Services of the East Bay and will go directly to refugee and low-income families throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
