HMI is more than a trip, it’s about the journey. And your Jewish journey continues at home – whether in your community, with your HMI cohort, or at home with your partner. From Shabbat to other Jewish holidays, life-stage based programs and neighborhood meet-ups, our programs help you explore Jewish life with your Honeymoon Israel family. HMI Chicago: Repro Shabbat Celebrations

February 7 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm CST

Repro Shabbat Celebrations
Wednesday, February 7 and Saturday, February 10

Reproductive freedom is a Jewish value. HMI Chicago is partnering with the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) to explore Jewish beliefs about reproductive rights and raise awareness of the current challenges to reproductive freedoms. Parshat Mishpatim, the weekly Torah portion that is read on Repro Shabbat (February 9-10), contains the verses commonly used as the foundation of Judaism’s approach to reproductive health, rights, and justice.

Join us for one or both of the following gatherings:

  • Wednesday, February 7 at 8:00 pm in Lincoln Park – Rabbi Sarah Mulhern, Rabbi of Silverstein Base Lincoln Park, will lead a discussion about the Jewish perspectives on reproductive rights and pack care kits for people who have recently undergone a reproductive procedure.
  • Saturday, February 10 at 6:00 pm in Jefferson Park – Join us for dinner and Havdalah (separation ceremony to end Shabbat) hosted by yours truly (me, Rachel!) where we’ll write thank you letters to the medical care teams who support people undergoing reproductive procedures.

Exact location for each event will be shared after registration.
