HMI at Home began as our virtual programming initiative to keep us all connected throughout the pandemic. Now, HMI at Home is so much more than virtual events. It encompasses incredible opportunities for meaningful connection that happen online and in person in your city! From Shabbat to holidays to challah baking, the HMI community is here for you.

DC Purim Cookie Palooza!
February 22 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm EST
Learn how to make hamantaschen (Traditional Purim cookies) at a virtual Baked by Yael hamantaschen-making class on Monday, February 22 at 4:30 p.m. featuring Special Guest EDCJCC CEO Dava Schub and her daughter, Benna! This class is geared towards children, but is suitable for participants of all ages.
We will provide you with hamantaschen dough (pre-made at Baked by Yael) as well as 3 different hamantaschen filings: apricot, raspberry, and chocolate. We’ll show you how to roll out the hamantaschen dough, cut it into circles, add the filling, shape the hamantaschen, and bake it!
Classes last 45-60 minutes. The exact number of hamantaschen varies, but we will give you enough dough to make approximately one dozen standard-size hamantaschen.
Registration fee includes materials for one participant: pre-made hamantaschen dough, apricot filling, raspberry filling, chocolate filling, egg, parchment paper, cookie cutter, and pastry brush.
During checkout, you’ll be asked to select whether you’d like to pick up your class supplies at Baked by Yael (we offer curbside pickup) or have them delivered to your home for an additional fee. You may also pick up your Hamantaschen Kit at at any of 5 farmers’ market in the DMV. (Select your farmers’ market at checkout.) Shipping is not available for this class.
Zoom video conferencing details will be sent to all confirmed participants 24 to 48 hours prior to the event.
