HMI is more than a trip, it’s about the journey. And your Jewish journey continues at home – whether in your community, with your HMI cohort, or at home with your partner. From Shabbat to other Jewish holidays, life-stage based programs and neighborhood meet-ups, our programs help you explore Jewish life with your Honeymoon Israel family. Don’t see a program in your city? Reach out to your local city staff for help finding what you need.

DC Light the Holidays Volunteering!

September 5, 2020 @ 7:00 pm EDT

Celebrate the High Holy Days with an act of service! Join HMI DC in writing holiday cards to local DC Jewish Seniors to help them feel less isolated in this difficult holiday season. There are two ways to join in: Drop by the virtual havdalah happy hour on Sept 5 with tips and tricks and time to chat and write, or sign up online to complete cards on your own and Andrea will send you however many names and addresses you want! What do you put in a card for the holidays? Childrens art work and drawings, well wishes, warm notes about what you may be doing for the holidays.

What would you want to avoid in this kind of card writing? Partisan politics, predictions for change in the current covid situation, lots of personal identifying details about yourself, assumptions about their religious observance.
