HMI at Home began as our virtual programming initiative to keep us all connected throughout the pandemic. Now, HMI at Home is so much more than virtual events. It encompasses incredible opportunities for meaningful connection that happen online and in person in your city! From Shabbat to holidays to challah baking, the HMI community is here for you.

HMI Chicago: Purim Party for Families with Kids (Virtual)

March 13 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am CDT

Do your kids like cookies? Do they like dressing up in silly costumes? Do they like singing, dancing, and hearing amazing stories? Join HMI Chicago for a rowdy, messy, and joyful Purim celebration led by THREE wildly talented HMI Chicago alumni!

Together, we will:

  • Bake yummy hamantaschen (triangular filled-pocket pastry) with Dylan Maysick, HMI Chicago Cohort 5 alum and Diaspora Dinners chef
  • Learn about the Jewish holiday of Purim, sing, and dance with live music by Jewish children’s educator, Amy Schaeffer, HMI Chicago Cohort 5 alum
  • Enjoy a live reading of My Happy Hamantaschen by Jewish children’s author, Arianna Brooks, HMI Chicago Cohort 4 alum
  • Get ready to get down, ancient Persian style, with a generous sprinkle of HMI magic! This event has something for children of all ages and will be super interactive.

And as a special bonus: all families will receive a FREE copy of Arianna’s newest board book, My Happy Hamantaschen! Please RSVP by March 1 to get your free copy of the book.
