Here are some ways that you might honor a milestone Jewishly. Our team is here to support you as you plan your event and connect you with a rabbi or Jewish educator if needed.

  • Host a Jewish bris or baby-naming ceremony with a rabbi or Jewish educator
  • Celebrate a Jewish conversion ceremony
  • Host a mezuzah-hanging in honor of new home
  • Host a celebration of a commitment ceremony or wedding with a rabbi or Jewish educator
  • Celebrate your child’s bar or bat mitzvah ceremony
  • Organize a shiva (Jewish mourning ritual) to support your HMI family when they experience a loss

“With all of the overwhelming costs of a wedding, my now-husband and I would not have been able to afford sponsoring kiddush at our synagogue for an aufruf aliyah the Shabbat before our wedding. We had originally not planned to invite anyone to our aufruf because of that, and instead just celebrate the aliyah with our fellow synagogue members. Because of the HMI grants program, we were able to sponsor the kiddush luncheon for that Shabbat and invite our HMI cohort.”
